The coast of County Donegal, Ireland provides dynamic conditions and unbelievable paddling offering something for everyone. This coached learning trip provides unparalleled learning opportunities in a unique and beautiful environment. We are based in Dunfanaghy, County Donegal, Ireland for the week the itinerary is reflective of conditions and group goals.
Double occupancy lodging, breakfast, and some dinners will be provided. Boats are provided in Ireland.
Day 1: We will pick up at Dublin Airport around 12pm and travel to Dunfanaghy, we’ll stop for lunch on the road. Day 2 – 7: Paddling and developing skills along the varied coastline Day 8: Travel back to Dublin Airport or the airport hotel. Arrive in Dublin mid-afternoon.
The itinerary is reflective of conditions and group goals. The vast and dynamic environments in County, Donegal offer something for everyone. Some areas of learning and growth may include rock gardening, rough water boat handling, rescues, navigation, stroke refinement, and open water crossings.
Food:Once in Dunfanaghy, breakfast, lunches, and some dinners are provided. Snacks and drinks are on your own. There is a small shop in town and if time allows we’ll stop at a larger grocery store on the way up from the airport.
Non-paddling activities: We encourage you to take advantage of being in the country and explore on your own or organize your own tours before or after paddling. Our goal is to support your development as a paddler and get to show you Ireland from the water so while you’re with us our focus is on the water explorations.
Boats and Gear:Boats will be provided in-country through our local partner, most are P & H Virgos. Plan on packing your own gear – if you need something let us know.
Travel: Airport transport is included in the trip as well as to each paddling destination each day. We will pick you up from the airport by 12pm on 8/17 and bring you back by mid-afternoon on 8/24. There is a bus that runs from the airport directly to Dunfanaghy so if you need to catch an earlier flight or miss a connection catching the bus is a great option. In years past people have chosen to rent their own car for more independence and ability to explore before or after. Others have booked tours of Ireland and been driven to Dunfanaghy. Lots of options!
